How the gadsden land was aquiredThe Gadsden Purchase was a purchase made in 1853 and this purchase was by James Gadsden. As he bought a strip of land south of the Mexican cession for 10 million, everyone wanted to get in on this to use this land for a railroad route. The land was so nicely flat that it was wanted for a railroad. This land created the present day border of the southwestern United States with Mexico. Many Americans liked the outline of their country, but not everyone liked this. The United States was now looked at as a good place to be.
